FASH ‘N’ TREASURE
On Saturday, fashionistas from across the Canberra region (including yours’ truly) descended on Kingston’s Bus Depot Markets for Fash ‘n’ Treasure : the region’s hottest fashion and accessories market.
Showcasing local, national and international fashion designers; vintage fashion traders; fashion stylists; retail exhibitors; and a feast of Canberrans’ second hand wardrobes, it’s scores highly on the Chic-a-meter!
Held every second month, Canberrans can come along and indulge in a day of shopping for clothes, shoes, bags, hats and accessories; whilst thrifty fashionistas can sell their beloved items to make room for more essential purchases!
Up and coming designers, jewellery makers and vintage fashion gurus all gather to shop or sell their treasures. These markets are ideal to find one-of-a-kind gems, vintage frocks and explore local Canberran and Australian designs.
The market is the brainchild of Jane, a Canberra-born market seller and fashion addict. “There is a niche market in Canberra, and despite what people say, Canberra is teeming with style. There are so many fantastic designers in Canberra who struggle to find an outlet for their products. Consequently, we lose these designers to Sydney or Melbourne when we need them here more than ever.”
Being a fashion designer and market seller, Jane has realised the troubles encountered by both shoppers and sellers alike. “People love buying fashion” she enthuses, “but people rarely think of markets as the place to go for top-quality, designer clothing.
Fash ‘n’ Treasure is set to change all that. Just cast your eyes over some of the fabulous designers I encountered on Saturday!

Coco Liberace is designer fashion jewellery – think Mimco-esque (without the large-ish price tag!)

Coco Liberace are looking for a temporary home in Canberra, but in the mean time you can shop online!
The next Fash n Treasure is in 75 days, and you don’t want to miss it!

I quite enjoyed my wander through the markets but will admit I was slightly disappointed with the quality of some items on sale. There should be a ‘no Supre, Valley Girl or Diva’ rule. It brought down the average quality.
Upstairs was great with handmade sellers though and I’m pleased to see it getting bigger. And I agree Canberra is a fabulous fashion city!
Hi HerCanberra and thanks for the great write up! It was such a fun day and, as always, such fun to catch up with old friends and make some new ones. This is a great time to be exploring the vintage fashion market in Canberra, with Summer winding down we are getting ready for boots, coats and gloves! We are looking forward to the next Fash n Treasure on 21 May! Sarah xxx
