WIN a yoga retreat!

By Amanda Whitley — April 13, 2011

How long has it been since you took some time out? Time away from the pressures of work, kids, and everyday life. Wouldn’t you just love the chance to get away from it all, to reconnect and reenergise?

For me, my weekly yoga practice is my little escape. It’s one hour when I tune into my body, focus on my breath and just let go of all the stress of the ‘real world’. If you’ve ever done yoga, you’ll know what I mean.

It has a way of making you feel more focussed, calm and energised and really aware of your body and mind.

Now, close your eyes and imagine an entire weekend that’s all about you and yoga. A chance to get away and focus on revitalising your inner energy in an idyllic seaside setting. Two whole nights and days where you can revel in that sense of connection between mind and body and just leave everything else behind.

Thanks to Walirryuna – Radiant Sun Yoga you can make this fantasy a reality. They are giving HerCanberra readers a chance to win a place at their Radiant Sun Yoga Retreat at Broulee on the South Coast from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 May.

All you have to do is answer a simple question: Why do you need to take a weekend out at Radiant Sun Yoga Retreat?

You can increase your chances of winning by telling your friends and sharing via Facebook and Twitter. Each friend who names you as their referrer in their comment earns you an extra ‘ticket’ in the prize draw! Get all the competition details at the base of this post…but read on to find out more about this amazing retreat!

Valued at $390 the prize includes: two hatha vinyasa yoga classes per day (Saturday and Sunday);  guided meditations on Friday and Saturday evenings; a wellness seminar on healthy mindsets for energy, positivity and motivation; two nights quality accommodation at Oaks Ranch and Country Club (twin share); and all meals with a focus on fresh, healthy food and vegetarian options available; and more!

There will also be free time during the weekend to enjoy any of the optional extras (not included in your prize), including: massage, wellness coaching and nutritional profiling, kayaking tours, snorkelling tours and horse trail riding. Or you can enjoy a trip to the beach, bushwalking, tennis, golf, or just relax!

The retreat will be run by qualified, experienced yoga teacher Catherine Potter. Catherine went to her first yoga class as a teenager 35 years ago, has been practising yoga regularly for the last ten years and teaching since 2007. She did her teacher training in hatha and vinyasa flow yoga with Yoga Trinity.

Catherine created Radiant Sun Yoga retreats especially for busy women like you. They’re suitable for anyone with basic fitness and an interest in yoga, whether you’re a yoga regular or a complete beginner.

Catherine works on the philosophy: “If you can breathe you can do yoga”. Everyone works at their own level – it’s all about finding your own yoga that’s right for you.

If you’d like your chance to win a place at the Radiant Sun Yoga retreat, and to discover the benefits of yoga, see our instructions on how to enter below.

Competition aside, if you’re interested in attending the retreat you can find out more here. The retreat is really great value and a fantastic way to spend a couple of days – why not get some friends together and make it a special weekend away?

As a special bonus promotion, if you book your place at the retreat before 5pm Wednesday 20 April, not only do you have a chance to win your weekend away ABSOLUTELY FREE, you also go into the draw for a bonus Thai Yoga massage valued at $80.

Want to win? Silly question. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Leave a comment answering this question: “Why do you need to take a weekend out at Radiant Sun Yoga Retreat?”
  2. Increase your chance of winning by telling your friends or sharing via Facebook or Twitter. For every friend who enters and mentions you as their referrer (make sure they say you sent them in their comment!) you earn an extra entry. The more people you refer, the more chances you have of winning!
  3. Entries close at 5pm next Tuesday 19 April 2011. Entries are only eligible if they are left as a comment on this post on HerCanberra. Comments on facebook or twitter or via email will not be accepted as valid entries.
  4. The winner will be picked randomly. Each entry will be assigned a number in order of receipt, and a number picked out of a hat at the close of the entry period.
  5. All bookings made this week will be eligible to win their place at the retreat ABSOLUTELY FREE and go into the draw for a bonus Thai Yoga massage from Catherine Potter.

I think I NEED a weekend at the yoga retreat to help me regain my sanity and a sense of self. I spend my days running around after two little ones and could use some “me” time.

Even though I am a mum of 4 boys, have a hubby that travels often and would love a retreat away. I would like to enter to donate the prize to a very good friend. Not only is she currently undergoing chemo for breast cancer she has recently lost her 14 year old son due to a tragic accident. If anyone needs a retreat its her :)

Hi, I have an inner voice guiding me to walk the spiritual Sky Scrapper, to take the opportunity to reflect, connect with spirit, to raise my vibrations and eliminate my ego. To take note of, appraise, to filter my thoughts and to reconsider them.To also give my body the gift of yoga practice feeding the soul spiritual and physically.Love and Light

I am a carer and mum, and even the thought of a weekend retreat lifts my spirit. A weekend at the coast doing yoga, relaxing and revitalising with Catherine would be pure bliss!

I’m in my 2nd semester of studies at uni and at the age of 43 this year I’ve been having a few ups and down about being back at studies nearly 20 years later. Its been a big year and I would love for the chance to unwind and get my head & body into a much more freer state (especially when my essay is due 13 June – see can’t you tell I’m stressing….). A weekend dedicated to switching off, eating well and learning to relax with the experts would be timely in my life now.

I think you have a great website Amanda very informative and I think Kylie Barber with 3yo twins who recomended me should win. she is a very busy lady. but i would not mind the prize either as a mother of 2 and with one more on the way with an absent husband alot of the time (Travels away for work, in NZ for 2 weeks now), running and small framing business and working casually leaves little time to R E L A X …… ah YOGA bliss.!!

This is just perfect timing for me! I breathe but like most of us I don’t breathe efficiently and my 14 year old son and I need to improve our breathing to make the most of life. This year I completely rearranged my life to get off the fast moving conveyor belt- I’m no longer a hard working full time executive teacher, instead my new part time position allows me to cycle to my new work place, the ANU, where I am contributing to the setting up of the new ANU Gender Institute (http://genderinstitute.anu.edu.au/). It’s a fabulous positive shift and my life is blossoming. Women need to connect mind and spirit especially as they try to balance home and careers. All I need is to fully refocus my life with a retreat. My father died in January, a difficult but peaceful process and I feel privileged to have been there for him. Now it’s time to process all this and put it into practice so my son and others can see that I practice what I preach. Friends have been on retreats like this and swear by it- good on you Catherine for supporting others in reconnecting and reenergising!

Like many others, a Mum who would like a break from three kids(it would be my third weekend off in 13 years!!) and now a puppy (they are like having another, less well behaved child…..). Did yoga years ago when pregnant, then one night couldn’t get up off the floor I was so huge and haven’t done it since! Would love to try and find a way to relax and unwind that I could use in every day life….. Thanks to Martina for recommending the website.

I’ve been sitting here trying to think of a reason why I should win but really, I am just another tired Mum, no more deserving then anyone else. I think Yvette should win for her friend, she sounds like she needs it the most.

I’m in my first year uni this year and I’m very stressed out, I’m trying to juggle work and school work, but it’s not really working out. I seem to have to go through a rough week every week, I’m anticipating the winter break but can’t look forward to it. I wonder what all this anticipation was building up to uni and finally getting out of school.. nothing exciting at all.

I would love to win this weekend away as I have never tried yoga but my mum does it everyday and tells me how great it is. I am a mum of 4 beautiful girls and have not had a child free weekend ever since having my first daughter nearly 11 years ago! I would dearly love a relaxing, healthy weekend away! I can only wish and cross everything! Good luck to everyone who enters. I am sure we are deserving of the weekend away! :)

  20. April 19, 2011 at 5:07 pm

I want to win because of… all of the above. Well, except the twins and the 4 boys part. On second thought – I actually think some mums need this more than me! (and that’s saying something…)

  21. April 19, 2011 at 5:58 pm

I think all mums are deserving of this prize and everyone definately needs the stretch! There is one mum in Canberra that everyone would love to see win, if they only knew her story. Yvette is entering for the same, beautiful woman. There is only so much a family can take. I would love to see her get some good news with this healthy escape.

Recently three people have said to me ‘you need a holiday and just chill’ plus my naturopath has me on ‘calming’ herbs = this prize would kill 2 birds with 1 stone and help make 2013 a chillaxing year :)
